Yoga postures, or asanas, are used to release residual tension from not only physical activity but also a lifetime of stress and strain. while this may seem easy to overcome, tension (both physical and emotional) is layered so deep down that we are unaware of much of it. So what we do to make ourselves "comfortable" is not the same as being truly "relaxed".

Being relaxed, believe it or not, requires a bit of effort. effort, however, can go two ways; constructive and energizing or destructive and exhausting. by the time we reach adulthood we have experienced both.

I believe the path to dissolving residual tension permanently is to acknowledge and challenge its existence in our bodies. This is where the practice of the art of yoga enters the picture. yoga is effort without tension.

To enter into a practice of yoga doesn't mean you will practice without tention as asanas can be very challenging and for some challenge creates tension. that's where the education becomes critical.

I will teach you how to enter into the practice of yoga and how to let go of your tension. there are five components that will be used to help create the format that teaches this. they are: *Asana, Vinyasa, Bandha, Pranayama and Drushti.

You will learn not only the importance of your core but how to use it starting from the pelvic floor to the brain. also, you will begin to understand how your body communicates to you be it a clenched jaw or a clenched bum. it essence, when we address from center (core) the rest of the body (limbs) will take care of itself.

Lastly, I want to express my opinion of the power of a group. In a group setting, no matter the purpose, there is a synergy that is built. a group will always grow into a powerful, balanced union. The definition of yoga IS union, or to unite. I encourage anyone who is even a little curious to come and try it. be prepared to learn, grow and to let go of what no longer serves you.

* for more information on these five components please contact me and I would be more than happy to answer your questions in more detail.
